I am recently licensed (23 August 2001, as KD5POO). When I learned that anyone could get a vanity call sign (instead of having to have achieved Extra class), I jumped at the opportunity.
Thus, I am now KN5UKS.
Make no mistake, I definitely want to upgrade--I worked a little 40m SSB on Field Day 2002 with my local HAM club and it was a blast!

Right after Field Day 2003, I took the plunge and bought a Yaesu FT100D all-band mobile radio and mounted it in my car. One of these days, I'll get around to upgrading so I can use the rest of it.

For portable operation, I still have my first rig: a Radio Shack HTX245.

To learn my CW, I really need to listen to live exchanges. For that, I intend to employ a Radio Shack DX-398 `world band' radio I recently acquired at clearance price. Rat Shak discontinued this radio (which was their top of the line model) and their current offerings don't even come close to the features of the DX-398. If you ask around, you might find one inexpensively in your area.

So, with a shiny new vanity call, I should certainly have a proper QSL card. This has the basics, which I whipped up in TeX. I'm looking to add a graphic eventually...
